- Geographic Information Systems
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a database capable of capturing, storing, analyzing, and displaying information according to its location. GIS databases are created with various layers that can be turned on or off depending on the information needed at the time. They can also be used to generate maps for further display information and assist the user in analyzing the data.
GIS systems can also be integrated into both Autodesk AutoCAD ® and Bentley's Microstation ® to assist drafters and designers as they create plans for various projects. Civic Engineering has used GIS extensively for a number of projects.
Civic's team of inspectors and GIS analysts are experienced at handling the largest mapping projects. We can create the strategic plan for mapping the infrastructure, plan the implementation of the system, create the initial database, and maintain and update any size GIS project.
Featured Project
Civic Engineering was tasked to assist the Department of Public Works in implementing a Metro-Wide Comprehensive Sidewalk Program. Civic's responsibilities include providing the guidance and expertise required to manage all aspects of the administration, planning, design, and construction observation phases of the program. Civic served as both the Program Coordinator’s staff and the Program Manager. The scope of the program necessitated that the work be divided into several hundred projects.
